Honeymoon Safari
Honeymoon in the heart of Africa's wilderness.
When a safari turns into a honeymoon

There are trips you plan for a long time. And then there are trips you remember for a lifetime. Your honeymoon belongs to the latter category.

Imagine sitting together for the first time in an open safari vehicle, the sun low over the savanna, and a herd of elephants roaming the landscape ahead. A few days later, you're lying barefoot on the banks of the Indian Ocean, hearing only the sound of the sea, finally having time to let all the impressions of the past few days sink in.

Or you can stay completely in the bush. A private lodge, just a few rooms, a pool overlooking the game reserve, sundowners for two, and dinner under the stars.

We plan your honeymoon so that it's not just a nice trip. It's your trip.

A safari is a special trip in any case. As a honeymoon, it takes on a whole new meaning. You experience Africa together, but not according to a rigidly planned itinerary. Instead, it's about special places, plenty of privacy, and accommodations where you can truly retreat.

Perhaps a private suite in the heart of the bush. A pool from which you can watch elephants at the waterhole. A sundowner just for the two of you. Breakfast in the middle of the wilderness. Or dinner under the stars as the African night sky rises above you. It's the little moments that make a honeymoon safari so special.

First the wilderness - then the sea

For many couples, the combination of safari and beach is the perfect honeymoon trip. And for good reason.

The first few days belong to the wilderness: early game drives, exciting wildlife sightings, bush breakfasts, sundowners and that special feeling of never quite knowing what awaits behind the next bend.

Then the scenery changes.

The alarm clock stays off. The shoes stay in the suitcase. Instead of a safari vehicle, a deck chair awaits by the sea.

That's why safaris and beaches complement each other so well: the safari is intense and full of impressions. The beach offers space to breathe, switch off, and simply be together.

Some of our favorite combinations

Tanzania and Zanzibar
Serengeti, Ngorongoro or Tarangire, followed by white beaches, turquoise waters and Swahili culture in Zanzibar.

South Africa and Mozambique
A safari in the Kruger area or a private reserve, followed by a few days on an island or at the beach. Ideal if you're looking for something secluded and barefoot after experiencing the wilderness.

Botswana and Mozambique
The Okavango Delta or Chobe meets the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago. A combination for couples who prefer a particularly exclusive and tranquil experience.

Kenya coast
A safari in the Masai Mara or a private conservancy, followed by a beach holiday on Kenya's coast. This way, the entire trip stays within one country.

Tanzania and Mauritius
A classic safari followed by relaxing days in a high-quality beach resort.

Uganda and Zanzibar
Gorilla or chimpanzee trekking, safari and the landscapes of Uganda, followed by a few days on the Indian Ocean. An exceptional combination for couples who want to spend their honeymoon off the beaten track of the classic safari routes.

And of course, we can plan other combinations as well. Which route is best depends on your travel dates, your preferences, your budget, and how much safari and how much ocean you want.

Or simply: lots and lots of Africa

Not every couple wants to go to the beach after a safari. And you don't have to.

A dedicated safari honeymoon can be just as extraordinary. Perhaps you'll spend your honeymoon in different private safari lodges, experiencing diverse landscapes and ecosystems.

For example, you could spend a few days in southern Africa, then continue on to the Okavango Delta. Or you could discover Tanzania with the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and a private lodge off the beaten track.

Namibia can also be very special for a honeymoon: endless landscapes, desert, private lodges and plenty of time for two.

And for those who want something even more extraordinary, the safari can be combined with special experiences such as a private bush dinner experience, a sleep-out under the stars or a hot air balloon ride, provided this suits the respective region and accommodation.

Honeymoons don't have to take place on the beach. Sometimes a private terrace in the middle of the bush is the most romantic place in the world.

Two people. A lodge. And the wilderness right outside the door.

For your honeymoon, we choose accommodations differently than for a classic tour. Privacy becomes more important. Atmosphere becomes more important. Location becomes more important.

We are looking for lodges and camps where you don't feel like just two guests among many, but truly arrive.

Perhaps your suite is secluded by the river. Perhaps you have your own small pool. Perhaps you can look directly out onto a body of water from your bed.

And perhaps it's exactly the lodge where you'll simply stay sitting on your terrace in the evenings because you won't want to leave at all.

Which accommodation suits you best does not depend solely on the category.

It's about the feeling.

Your best moments often happen between game drives.

Of course, wildlife viewing is part of a safari. But a honeymoon safari is about more than just the Big Five. It's about breakfast that suddenly unfolds in the middle of the bush. About your first coffee on your private terrace. About enjoying a sundowner somewhere out in the wilderness. About a private dinner where the only sound is the crackling of a fire.

To the moment when you return to your lodge after a long game drive and simply lie by the pool for another hour.

And for those little moments that would never be on a travel itinerary. That's precisely why we deliberately leave room in the planning. Not every day has to be packed. Sometimes, " Today we'll do absolutely nothing" is exactly the right honeymoon plan.

The Honeymoon Insider
Did you know that your marriage certificate can sometimes be worth real money?

Many safari lodges and hotels have special honeymoon offers that are not always prominently visible at first glance.

At certain accommodations, you can benefit from special honeymoon perks within the first year after your wedding if you present your marriage certificate.

This could mean, for example:

  • Massages or spa treatments included

  • A romantic turndown in the evening

  • A private dinner for two

  • A free floating breakfast

  • A bottle of champagne or a special welcome drink

  • Room or accommodation upgrades

And some offers go even further: Some accommodations grant the bride up to a 50% discount on her overnight stay under certain conditions.

However, the terms and conditions always vary. Often, the travel period, minimum stay, room category, or the specific honeymoon package play a role. The time elapsed since the wedding can also be a deciding factor.

That's why, when planning, we don't just check the available rates. We also look at which honeymoon benefits are actually available for your trip. This way, an already special trip can become even more special.

Small gestures. Big memories.

We love these little details that make a trip more personal. A handwritten note in your room.

Champagne upon arrival. A swim under the open sky. Dinner in a secluded spot. A surprise on your private terrace.

Or a breakfast that awaits you not in a restaurant, but somewhere out in the wilderness.

Not every one of these ideas is suitable for every lodge. And that's precisely why we don't try to impose the same honeymoon program everywhere.

We'll look for something that suits you and this special place. Because a romantic moment shouldn't feel like a standard package deal.

From the wedding straight into the wilderness

You can combine your honeymoon directly with your wedding. If you're getting married in South Africa, for example, you could combine a wedding in the Winelands with a safari.

A few days among vineyards and mountains. Then it's off into the bush. Or you could get married somewhere completely different and then fly directly to Africa.

We take care of ensuring that individual travel components become a cohesive journey: flights, transfers, safari lodges, domestic flights and, of course, the transitions between the individual stations.

This is especially important for a honeymoon trip. After the wedding, you don't want to have to deal with transfers, baggage allowances, or connecting flights.

You should arrive.

Africa for two

A honeymoon safari doesn't have to mean being constantly surrounded by other people. Private game drives, small camps, and secluded lodges can ensure your trip remains very personal.

You can set off in the morning together with your guide, take time for wildlife observation and shape the day in a way that feels right to you.

Perhaps you'd like to linger for a long time by a herd of elephants.

Perhaps you are interested in photography.

Perhaps you'd prefer to sleep in and only head out for the afternoon game drive.

Especially with an individually planned honeymoon trip, we can take such wishes into account from the very beginning.

How much safari? How much beach?

This is one of the questions we get most often when planning a honeymoon.

Our answer: As much as feels right to you.

Some couples want an intensive safari with several lodges and as many different landscapes as possible. Others prefer a three- or four-night safari followed by a full week at the beach. Still others don't want a traditional beach holiday at all, but rather a two-week safari with plenty of time spent at the lodges.

A good starting point is combining several nights on safari followed by a few days at the beach. On two-week trips, both parts can usually be combined in a relaxed way, without the trip feeling rushed. But we don't plan according to a fixed formula. We plan according to you.

Your honeymoon. Not just any honeymoon package.

We don't believe there's one perfect honeymoon trip. Maybe for you it's a week in the Okavango Delta. Maybe a combination of the Serengeti and Zanzibar. Maybe South Africa, vineyards, a safari, and Mozambique. Maybe two weeks in Namibia.

Or a trip where you spend almost ten days exclusively in small, extraordinary safari camps.

Whatever your idea is: We don't just plan a trip and write "Honeymoon" about it.

We find the places, accommodations and experiences that will make your honeymoon.

And we also keep an eye on the details that newlyweds might not even consider. Honeymoon benefits. Transfers. Flight connections. Baggage allowances. Special rooms. Private experiences.

So that you can take care of what's most important: each other.

And you don't need to know yet whether you want to combine safari and beach.

Simply tell us how you imagine your first days as a married couple.

We'll turn it into a journey.
