Small group safaris
Experience Africa together. In a small group.
Safari in good company
A safari doesn't have to be private to be personal. Small group safaris combine the best of both worlds: you're not traveling alone through Africa, but you're also not part of a large tour group. Instead, you're with just a few other travelers, experiencing the wilderness together while still having plenty of space for your own interests.
This can be particularly interesting if you are traveling alone, planning a safari as a couple, or simply enjoy being out and about with other people.
At InfiniteWild, we offer select small group safaris in Tanzania, Namibia, Kenya, Botswana, and Uganda. In addition, we offer InfiniteWild Journeys, where we take the concept of group travel and reimagine it entirely.
Small groups. Selected routes. Good guides. Special places.
And above all: experience Africa not from a tour bus, but right in the middle of it.

Why a small group safari?
A private safari is wonderful. But it's not the only way for everyone to experience Africa in depth. A small group safari can be the perfect choice if you want to travel with others or simply save money without sacrificing the quality of a well-planned safari.
Depending on the trip, you'll share the vehicle, guide, and selected activities with a small group. This can result in lower costs per person compared to a completely private trip.
At the same time, the atmosphere remains completely different from that of a classic large group tour. No tour buses with 30 or 40 people.
No large hotel groups traveling together from one program point to the next.
Instead, you sit with a few people in an open safari vehicle, watch a leopard in a tree together, or stand somewhere in the middle of the savannah at sunset.
And perhaps that is the most beautiful side effect of a small group safari: You go to Africa with people and return home with stories.

Small group instead of large tour bus
A small group safari isn't about cramming in as many people as possible. The group size depends on the specific trip and the tour operator. We always ensure the group remains small enough to preserve the true safari experience. We offer small group safaris with guaranteed window seats, limited to a maximum of 7 people. We also offer trips with approximately 9-10 people or a maximum of 12-14 people.
Because on safari, it makes a difference whether six people share a special moment together or whether an entire tour bus gets off at a waterhole. Small groups allow for more peace and quiet. More time for wildlife viewing.
More interaction with the guide. And often a much more personal atmosphere.
Of course, a small group safari also means you'll have to get along with other travelers. You'll share vehicles, activities, and sometimes even the daily routine. That's precisely why, when making our selection, we don't just look at price and route, but also at how the trip is structured and who it's suitable for.

Even alone to Africa
A small group safari is a particularly attractive option for solo travelers. Do you want to experience Africa but don't have anyone in your circle of friends or family who can join you at the same time? You don't have to miss out on a safari.
On a small group tour, you join an existing group and travel with other people who share the same enthusiasm for Africa. At the same time, you have your own space: your own room, time for yourself, and of course, moments when you can simply observe and enjoy.
Financially, a small group safari can also be attractive for solo travelers. On a private safari, the vehicle, guide, and certain travel services are shared among a very small number of people. In a group, several travelers share these costs. If a single supplement applies, it is usually significantly lower than if you were traveling completely alone.
Depending on the trip, accommodation, and group size, the price per person can be significantly lower. Plus, you don't have to navigate an unfamiliar country alone. Transfers, route, accommodations, and safari activities are already organized. You can focus on what you came to Africa for in the first place.
Travel alone, experience Africa together: Discover our safaris for solo travelers

Traveling together, yet individually
A group tour doesn't automatically mean that every day has to be planned down to the last detail. Especially on a safari, it's important to us that the trip leaves enough time for the actual experience.
If a guide discovers fresh tracks in the morning and therefore wants to stay longer at a location, the clock shouldn't dictate when they move on. If a group experiences a special moment at a waterhole, that moment should be allowed to last.
And if, after a long day on safari, no one wants to do anything else, that's perfectly fine too. Depending on the trip, there's also free time or optional activities. This creates a balance between traveling together and personal freedom.

InfiniteWild Journeys - a group safari, but different.
Our InfiniteWild Journeys are our own unique interpretation of a small group tour. It's not simply about putting our name on an existing group tour. We wanted to create a travel format that offers more freedom, a closer connection to nature, and a more authentic safari experience.
You'll travel in a small group, driving your own 4x4, accompanied by an experienced guide. A private chef will also be there to cater for you along the way. You'll combine rooftop tent and lodge accommodations, spending nights immersed in nature and experiencing Africa not just from the safari vehicle, but as an integral part of the journey. Your guide won't simply point out animals; they'll help you interpret the landscape, understand animal tracks, and recognize the connections between wildlife, vegetation, and habitat. And while you're behind the wheel, someone who knows the region and understands when it's best to take a different route will always be by your side.
Drive yourself. Be guided. Experience Africa.
That's precisely what makes an InfiniteWild Journey so special. You feel like you're truly on the road. But you don't have to organize everything yourself.

The idea behind our Journeys
Self-driving is an important part of our Journeys. You sit behind the wheel of the 4x4 and experience the landscape firsthand. You don't have complete freedom to choose the route – that's what the guide is there for. But you're not just a passenger either.
You ride through the countryside. You learn to navigate the terrain. You develop a feel for the distances, the landscape, and the local conditions. And when things get more challenging, there's someone with you who knows exactly what to do.
In addition, our private chef will accompany the group throughout the trip. So after a long day in the bush, you don't have to worry about dinner. Instead, your meal will be waiting for you at camp.
Sometimes by the fire. Sometimes under the open sky. Sometimes in the middle of nowhere.
This is not a typical camping holiday. But it's also not a luxury holiday where you only see Africa through a window.
It's something in between. And that's precisely what makes the InfiniteWild Journey so special.

Namibia: our InfiniteWild Journey 2027
Namibia is particularly well-suited for this type of travel. The country is vast, with landscapes that alternate between desert, mountains, open plains, and wilderness. At the same time, Namibia is an excellent destination for road trips and guided tours. Our InfiniteWild Journey in Namibia combines precisely this feeling of freedom and adventure with the safety and organization of a guided small group tour.
You'll travel together, experience Namibia from a 4x4, stay in both rooftop tents and selected lodges, and be accompanied by our guide throughout the trip. The current 2027 tour is offered as a group tour with two departure dates.
If you want to know what an InfiniteWild Journey actually feels like, you can find the complete itinerary, dates and all included services on the dedicated travel page.

Small group safaris in Africa
In addition to our own InfiniteWild Journeys, we offer select small group safaris with experienced partners. These trips differ significantly from one another, with some focusing more on classic wildlife viewing.
Others associate safari with culture and landscape.
Some safaris take place exclusively in lodges, while others combine different types of accommodation. That's precisely why there's no single perfect small group safari. We'll work with you to find the trip that best suits your needs.

Tanzania
Tanzania is one of our most important destinations for small group safaris.
Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire or other regions can be excellently combined and offer very different safari experiences depending on the route.
Of particular interest: Some of the small group safaris in Tanzania can also be conducted in German. This is a real advantage for many travelers who are less confident in their English.
A good guide shouldn't just show animals, but also be able to explain the context. Feeling more confident speaking your native language can make a big difference.
Of course, an English-language tour is also possible. We will individually assess which option and route are suitable for you.

Kenya
Kenya is a destination for travelers who want to combine classic East African safari with stunning landscapes and unique wildlife experiences.
A small group safari can, for example, lead to the Masai Mara or connect different regions.
A particularly appealing option is the possibility of combining a safari with a visit to the Kenyan coast. This allows you to extend your group tour through the wilderness with a few relaxing days by the sea.
And if you are traveling alone, Kenya is also an interesting option to experience Africa together with a small group without having to finance a private trip.
Botswana
Botswana is known for its exceptional wilderness areas and the unique landscapes of the Okavango Delta. Here, too, there are various options for traveling in a small group.
Depending on the trip, the focus may be on a classic lodge safari with game drives or more on a mobile safari.
What makes this particularly exciting are the different perspectives on the wilderness: open safari vehicles, water activities and – depending on the region and trip – walking experiences.
Another advantage: Selected Botswana trips also offer departures with translators, for example in German or French.
This allows you to experience Botswana without having to make linguistic compromises in your guide's explanations.

Uganda
Uganda is a particularly exciting destination for travelers who want to combine their safari with extraordinary primate experiences.
A small group tour can combine different facets of the country: classic wildlife viewing, landscapes, cultural encounters and – depending on the trip – gorilla or chimpanzee experiences.
Especially for solo travelers, such a group trip can be interesting because the organization of complex travel sections is already taken care of, and you still travel with a small group.
Uganda often feels somewhat different from the classic safari destinations of East Africa.
And that's precisely what makes it so appealing.

What is included in a small group safari?
That always depends on the specific trip and our respective partner.
Depending on the trip, the following services may typically be included:
-
Accommodations and camps
-
Transfers
-
Safari activities such as game drives, mokoro trips, bush walks, trekking…
-
experienced guides
-
Meals and drinks
-
National Park and Conservation Fees
-
Domestic flights or charter flights, if required
-
Airport transfers
-
further activities as per itinerary
Our InfiniteWild Journeys have a different concept and, depending on the trip, include, for example, a 4x4 vehicle, a guide, and a private chef.
That's why we always examine each trip carefully before recommending it. A lower price is only truly comparable if the included services are also comparable.

Who is a small group safari suitable for?
For solo travelers
You don't want to travel through Africa alone, but don't have a suitable travel partner?
A small group safari offers you the opportunity to travel with others and still have your own room.
For couples
You want to experience Africa, but don't want to pay the price of a completely private safari?
A small group can be an interesting alternative.
For friends
Are you traveling as a couple or with friends and would like to meet new people?
A small group tour combines both.
For safari beginners
You've never been on safari and don't want to plan everything yourself?
Then a well-organized small group tour can be a very relaxed introduction.
For people who like community
Some of the most beautiful safari memories are not only created by observing animals.
But rather in the evening around the campfire, at the communal dinner, or when everyone in the vehicle suddenly spots the same leopard at the same time.

Find the right trip for you
Therefore, the crucial question is not:
"Which small group safari is the cheapest?"
Rather:
"What kind of trip suits me?"
Do you want maximum comfort? Or would you prefer adventure?
Would you like to drive yourself? Or would you prefer to be driven?
Would you like to travel with a German-speaking group?
Is a particular animal species especially important to you?
Do you want to spend a lot of time in the vehicle or combine safari with culture, scenery and other activities?
And how important is a small group size to you?
We will clarify exactly these questions together.
Because a group trip shouldn't simply be a cheaper alternative to a private trip.
It can be a unique way to experience Africa.
